I have been having an issue with going through DI quickly and my 99 percent rejection membrane from spectrapure has never given me more than about 95 to 96 (270-300 from tap and 9-12 after) percent even with a booster pump (70 PSI) and changing the sediment and carbon 2-3 times in the 6 months (membrane from 11/15) that I have owned the RODI (previously used) and gone through 4 total DI cartridges.

Tonight on a WHIM I was going through changing the cartridges again to try and figure out the problem.

I put the old membrane that came with the unit (dated 11/13) back into the unit.

For the first time I saw the TDS after the membrane dropped down to 5-6 tonight despite my tap coming in at over 300. I calculated the percent rejection and saw 99 percent for the first time ever.

My overall question is do faulty membranes exist? Can a seal be bad?
I am completely confused I flush before and after each time and am not wanting to believe a $70 membrane would last only 6 months less than 500 gallons of water made.
