I have a spec v and purchased a new Hydro ato but my salinity gets way to high before this thing is even close to topping off the tank any suggestions or modifications that can be done to help with this matter. I use almost a cup of water a day to compensate for evaporation.

What kind of water are you using to topoff? Distilled correct?

Your water level should never fluctuate outside of a couple millimeters with an ATO. Even on a 5G tank, you shouldn't fluctuate beyond a couple cups of water. Shouldn't be enough evap with the ATO setup properly to fluctuate the salinity more then .001.

I would assume you know to topoff with plain water and not salt water? Water evaporates leaving the salt behind effectively rasing the SG until you add fesh water to bring the SG back down.
