I will be picking up a used 120 RR tank tonight. It has glass tops and I will run it as fowlr. I am looking for an inexpensive LED light to run it. What would you recommend?

I would recommend a few of the Chinese black box units. They are very inexpensive and if you decide to keep corals they are adequate

Since its fish only then any light will do..
Whats your budget?
Want it hanging over the tank or resting on top/legs?

I would not waste the money on LEDs for a tank that does not house coral.

How much is inexpensive?

I've got 2 of the 165w MarsAqua LEDs. I paid 150 for both.

Cheapest option would be SMD LEDS TUBE, cool whites and blues. I guess they are around 40 watts for 4 ft length. 4 tubes would be a killer. Should be very cheap in states. In my country they are around 8 USD each. They aint require no driver just plug and play.

Sorry for not responding. I drove 7+ hours round trip after work last night to pickup tank. Now to answer a few questions.

I will be using the glass tops that came with the tank. I don't really care if the light has legs or sits on tie the glass. It does have to look decent as there is no hood.

My budget is cheap! I want to be in the $50 - 150 range. How high depends on how much I can sell my icecap 660 retro setup for. I don't mind buying used.

I want LED for the low energy use, less heat, small fixture, and no changing expensive bulbs regularly. I have had corals in past and really want to just enjoy a fowlr. Things may change but that is what I am going for right now.

Another post had some cheap eBay led fixtures. I will drag over the link.

Since its a FOWLR you could use cheaper fixtures like these.

I bought the one from Ebay for a 75 FOWLR and found it to be way to yellow for my taste. I bought another one from Marsaqua that is much better and under $100 but you have to manually turn it on and off via the IR remote.

Trust me do not get the ebay specials or any full spectrum led light for your fowlr. I put them on my 210 fowlr and my 1st impression was wow, the colors of the fish were spectacular. Then I had cyano and algae off gassing issues constantly and my parameters were good and I couldn't figure it out. I taped over all the red, green. and yellow leds and added more flow, and voila problem solved. Full spectrum leds are not suited for a tank that does not have life to use colors like red, green, and yellow. Get a simple combo white and blue led.

You may want to look into a Current USA Marine Orbit (NOT the pro version). I ran this light as my 120 Fowler for 2 yrs and it was fine. Has sunrise / sunset and even the useless "storm/lightning" programs.

I currently use mine as a "filler" light for my 2x AI Hydra 26's (helps reduce the shadowing from the AI "point source" LEDS.

It is NOT suitable for ANY coral (in my opinion)..
