I'm going to get to the point here. I have a 20 gallon Nuvo, will the 360 wide grow SPS coral?

Yes! I have two 160's over a 22g growing sps quite nicely.

What I read was the shadowing that one lite will have on the branches of SPS Acro's and yes that is definitely a red flag. I have been debating a Hamilton MH Pendant with 14k light that clamps on to the back of the tank or even a decent 24" T5 set up but then the rimless look is pointless at that step as the light fixture from both MH and T5 are not as appealing to the eye as a Kessil light with the appropriate set up.

a single kessil (or any led puck) will create shadows that can cause issues with branching sps. just what I have been reading, no experience.

I second the 2 a160w approach. Two light points to help with shadowing and perfect to grow SPS with the dimensions of the relatively shallow IM20.

At that price point it would be better to buy an AP700 when you consider the mounting arms and spectral controller since the AP700 has wifi controls.

I dunno... 650 vs 965 seems like a substantial difference to me... that is unless you plan on upgrading to a bigger tank down the road. I have seen a pair of new unused 160s with mounting arms go for $400 for both sets in the RC classifieds.

I see what your saying. My tank is going to be mostly acroporas if this helps. Also if you see anything like your saying two 160 Kessils please DM me if you remember this conversation, I appreciate it.

Yeah, they sold about a month ago unfortunately. The guy was also looking for an Apex in trade, so I was considering it for a future upgrade. Definitely keep an eye out in the classifieds. Every so often there are good deals to be had and Kessils show up quite frequently.

Definitely listen to what others are saying about shadowing, you be fine with two, or one supplemented by t5s, but considering its a 20 gal nuvo, you probably are shooting for a clean look. I would go with a nice sleek looking ATI t5 fixture personally.

Will grow SPS jsut fine. Definitely more concern about shading issue mention by bigfruits.

Here's my 22g with two 160's (I just recently added two T5 bulbs)
Here's without T5:

Which ATI fixture would fit my tank with out dwarfing the tank? I was thinking ATI but don't want the tank to look dwarfed.

T5 all the way makes it look much nicer.

a 4 bulb 24" ATI fixture would allow you to grow anything.

This is the fixture I decided on along with the giesman wall mount fixture. I'm going to attach two pieces of T slot aluminum to the back of my night stand and attach the wall mount unit to the t slot so I'm not drilling into the wall.

Nice grab. That'll let you grow anything!

Thought i dont have kessils, I am going with 6 lumia 5.2 clusters (full spectrum/25 LEDs per puck) over my 180. They are spread about 10" apart. I very likely am also going to add two 5ft T5 tubes as well though. They should greatly reduce the shading that is so common with the concentrated LED like the Lumia and Kessil.

I think its worth it though to go with the concentrated pucks for the awesome shiimmer and the greatly reduced disco ball effect.

Yes! I second that!!! You can't go wrong with T5's.
