So it's weird my Yello peel Tang has been in QT for 6 weeks i just got done doing 2 rounds of prazipro and he didn't skip a beat eating like a tank. About 8 days after my last round of prazipro i noticed a little spike in ammonia and used prime because i did not have water ready for a change. The next day i got a nasty bacterial bloom could not even see inside the tank. I did a 50% water change and added carbon. Now the Tang is only breathing with one gill. All 6 weeks in QT breathing fine but today only with one gill and the other gill is breathing normally. Any thoughts? I though flukes but just treated 2 rounds of prazipro, how could that be?

Depending on how far apart the treatments were the flukes could still be present. The directions on the bottle aren't the best practice IMO. I treat every 3 days and even then have noticed that some flukes are more stubborn than others to kill. Here is a handy tool to use when dealing with flukes.

thanks will read the link. I treated prazipro for 6 days did a 25% WC and treated 2nd dose for 6 more days.
He was using one gill for about an hour and has gone back to breathing normal with both. Not sure what to think about it. No redness or visible marks around gills.

Typically heavy breathing, hiding, and not eating are signs of flukes. not one gill being used as opposed to both

One gill use is in fact an early sign of flukes.
Prazipro is active in the water for 72 hours, so I recommend dosing every 4 days for at least 2 weeks.

Good to know, haven't encountered that yet with flukes. Have been dealing with flukes with virtually all new arrivals lately, especially angels
