what skimmer should I use? I am not using the hood that came with the tank it's all open but I do have the clamp on HQI lamp 150w Viper, I might have to go with an internal skimmer I don't think there is any room for a hang on back skimmer, I would like one that is not to sensitive about water level also.

Tunze 9001 is very sensitive to water level changes, FYI. Hope you have an ATO. Even with an ATO, I ended up moving away from the 9001. I love most of Tunze's other products, but the 9001 is one I don't recommend.

What is one that will fit with the jbj24 with the hood on?

I chose the Hydor Slim Skim, I was also looking at the tunze 9004, the tunze 9001 I think is to small for my filtration needs, the only thing I don't like is that it will be in the display area of the tank, it's either that or a hang on the side skimmer, and I got the Hydor slim skim for only 96.99 price matched at marine depot from Dr.s Foster and Smith, over $50 less than the tunze 9004, I really like the remora s skimmer I have it on my other 24 gallon setup but it's 200 dollars and you have to hang it on the side because my radion xr15 pro is mounted to the back.

the Hydor slim skim seems to be very similar to the tunze 9004 but costs a litttle less which one would you chose?

it's going to be big and bulky I know. I got it yesterday and this thing is big.

I did put the Tunzee 9001 in the middle chamber and after three days it is doing well.

I just set up my tank with the Hydor Slim Skim and it barely fits height wise, I can't use any sand because it is so close to the bottom looks like a bare bottom tank no choice here, I am expecting my shipment of live rock today 25 lbs Ultra Fiji Premium, hope it's real and still alive. It took 7 days of shipping, maybe I should have went to my LFS. But they only had Reel Reef Rock which is not wild caught I think it's man made and it was more expensive.

I have tried the tunze nano 9001 skimmer before I can't imagine it working in the sump of an AIO tank. you really have to be good with skimmers for it to work that way. The water is rushing so fast through the tiny sump and the water level fluctuates so much there, also I couldn't fit it in the 2nd chamber anyway my light mounts there. Plus the 9001 skimmer I believe is not big enough for a heavily stocked 24 gal tank, that's why I went one size up I would put the 9004 skimmer in the tank directly.

If you run the skimmer on the first chamber.... do you use any material to filter large particles in that chamber or any other chamber for that matter? Does the skimmer use all the room in that chamber?
