Hi everyone. I recently added a spotbreast angel to my 75 gallon tank in replacement of my yellow tang that grew to be a bit too large for my comfort in the 75 after about 1 year. Long story short, I put her through my QT process of TTM, Prazi, and Observation for a few weeks. I saw no signs of disease, had a good appetite, and was always out swimming. I put her in the display with my 2 Blue/Green Chromis, Hoeven's Wrasse, and Yellow-Flanked Fairy Wrasse. There was no real signs of aggression at all and all seemed well. Then I went on a 2 week work trip to Italy and had my normal set-up of feeder, extra large ATO tank, and light timers. When I came back she was looking real bad but still swimming around. It looked like it was a case of fin rot so I started doing Kanaplex since that is the only medicine I have on hand for that type of issue. In about 3 days time to yesterday, she seemed to have stopped losing parts of her tail but was super lethargic and had bloody sore type lesions on her. This morning she was dead. Now it looks like my one Chromis has a lesion on it as well, but it has been out and about as normal. It is swimming around way too quick to get a good photo though. Any thoughts as to what this is would be a big help. The 2 chromis has been with me for 3 plus years now and never have I seen any signs of Uronema in the tank. The two chromis have been in 3 different tanks with 3 moves and many different types of fish as tankmates. Before this new tank, all fish were put through QT again and the tank started with all dry rock. This setup is about a year old. My water quality has remained pretty good with 0 ammonia and nitrite and nitrate at around 5-10. I did a 20 gallon water change when I got back from Italy 5 days ago. Please let me know your guys' thoughts. Thanks!

Update to this. I was able to get a few crappy photos of the chromis but was not able to get a good shot of the open looking sore on the underside of it. Anyone have any ideas? All other fish are active, eating, and looking no worse for wear so to speak.

Well this morning the sick Chromis was dead. I was hopeful since it was real active yesterday. Here are two shots of it. What concerns me is the completely open sore or hole on the bottom of it....

Anyone have any thoughts? I'd like to try and do the proper preventative to help the three remaining fish.

Thanks.

Uronema?? Not 100% on that - but it's my best guess

Looks like a bacterial infection. Uronema is usually a single, pronounced lesion.

That's what has been my fear after seeing the dead chromis. The chromis have been with my over 3 years so not sure if that's the source. Only new addition was that angel but it didn't show in the 4 plus weeks of QT or the first 3 plus weeks in the tank. Thanks for chiming in. Anyone else have any idea??

Oh ok. Good to know. I'll do my final round of kanaplex regardless. Hopefully it's not Uronema. Thanks!

You can also safely combine kanamycin with nitrofurazone to make a "super" antibiotic if you aren't getting the results from kanamycin alone.

Thanks! I'll look this up this evening when I am done with work. My three remaining fish all seem normal with no signs of anything going on. I did the third does if kanaplex this morning so hopefully they will make it through. I'll have to review my QT method once I begin to restock. Appreciate the help!

Well it has been about two weeks later and my remaining chromis has died. It seems to be a similar demise that did in the other fish. Does anyone have any thoughts on what it is? I did a full 3 doses of Kanaplex for bacterial infections and this still happened. The two wrasses have seemed perfectly normal this whole time, but so did this last chromis. Is my only real option to pull out the two fish and restart the tank? I am moving in 2 months so this would not be a huge issue as I could just keep the two guys in the 20 long QT tank or my 35 empty former freshwater tank....

Thoughts?

Bump. Does anyone have a thought as to what this is?
