This time there Easy doser has decided to dump all my Alk , Mag , Cal , bio actif , K+ , A- into the tank so woke up to a nice cloudy tank no doubt they will try and blame my setup once again !!!!

All tte corals are clamped and not looking very happy have just done a large waterchange to try and save things but time will tell.

To say I'm absolutely sick of that company is an understatement I will never touch another one of there electrical products as long as I own an aquarium.

There electrical products are shocking and there customer service is just as shocking.

I moved your thread out of the Lounge, where it had landed: the Lounge is a place for non-fish and humor, and your situation is not humorous, to say the least.

I am very sorry. If your corals can be moved, a qt and clean water might help most of all. If not possible, I'd do a series of massive water changes, a 30% today, tomorrow another 30%, and then wait a couple of days and do a series of 20% every 2 days, until your tests show normal. [Test BEFORE a water change and log the results on paper.] That should bring everything back to normal in fair short order. And of course cease doing water changes once you've entered 'normal' territory.

I can recommend a program without a controller, which is what I use, if you want to discontinue your controller: I set my basics by hand dosing mg, alk buffer, and cal up to 1350 mg, 8.3 dkh alk, 420 cal, then put Mrs. Wages Pickling Lime [kalk] into my ATO reservoir and let it run (the pump is a little Eheim, outputting, via reducers, to a 1/4" hose.) I can go off and leave it for a month without worry, given someone to switch to a new barrel of ATO midway.

Since you are overdosed, I can give you levels of these various things I know to be survivable by lps corals: 480 calcium, 1800 mg, and dkh 9.5... I beleive there might be survivability above these figures, but these are ones I've hit over a career and not had things die.

Wishing you every kind of luck, and if we can help from here, we're happy to.

Thanks very much for your advice I tested about 2 hours after the large waterchange as my main concern was change water and the elements are elevated to what I normally run but are not sky high thankfully as Sunday in my top up days on dosing containers.

The main issue is these products that have been dumped in

http://www.tropic-marin.com/bioactifsystem/np-bacto-balance/?lang=en

http://www.tropic-marin.com/bioactifsystem/pro-coral-k-und-a-elements/?lang=en

That's the main issue at present which is going to give me the headache I have checked and there no Ammonia or Nitrite present at minute so there is hope but all corals are sulking.

If you get a nitrate rise from this, I've found NoPoX does about the best job. I pulled a tank through an 8 day winter powerout, but the nitrate load was considerable. I've tried every tried and true method and some involving peanut butter jars and the dark of the moon---and NoPoX is actually making headway.

A chemical hit is sometimes the Gift That Keeps On Giving, so testing often is a good idea, along with logging the results, because things can get confusing if you try to remember it all. Write down the steps you took and the test results.

Hoping for more halfway decent numbers. If the tank chemistry was strong, it may be able to even this out.

The tank has been stable for months not moved and inch so I'm hoping everything pulls through its just looking a sorry state and cloudy :(

I've just taken mine back after the same problem, it was only two weeks old.
One minute everything was fine and next minute it would dump the entire contents of kh in.

I'm not ammused one bit I have just done another 200L change and added a load of carbon and set skimmer to wet skim.

I think it's on the verge of a crash to say I'm not ammused is an understatement and one cannot wait to speak to them on phone tomorrow !!!!

There is clearly an issue yet they will say not heard of that issue !!!

This is not good. See if you can set up a qt if you have to use buckets---if things are going south, the more healthy fishes and corals you can pull out who will NOT be dying, and adding to the nitrite/ammonia, the less likely the tank is to go over that brink and crash. If you can get enough water and containers, get everything over to the safety of clean water and let the sand and rock chemistry work the egg of disaster through the snake...hopefully without too much difficulty, and with no victims. Get some Prime or Amquel: that can detox ammonia.

Well it looks like I have got over the worse the water is clear again and everything is fine except my blue gorgonian it seems to of took its toll on that :(

I will do another 200L waterchange tonight and will then hopefully be well on the road to recovery it's been hard work and a lot of stress all fish appear fine and are now eating again.

So glad to hear it's not total. Let your tests determine the rate and size of water changes.

Marty.H

I have checked for the main 3

Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrates 2

The elements have gone up as I had no choice but to use Red Sea Coral pro salt I normally use Tropic Marin Bio Actif. But to be honest the RSCP matched virtual what my levels had been pushed up to.

I was going to do another 200L change to remove things that I can't test for as it has dumped in

200ML of K+ Trace elements
200ML of A- Trace elements
200ML of Bio Actif
500ML ALK
500ML Cal
500ML Mag
200ML Acropower

So I'm wanting to export those things I can't test for which makes sense to do a water change don't you think ?

What are your levels of PO4, Calcium, Alkalinity (dKh) and Magnesium?

Marty.H
06/27/2016, 12:02 PM
Alk 9.3 up from 8.3
Calcium 440 up from 420
Mag 1400 up from 1350

Phosphate 0.015

So main levels are acceptable

But then I have changed 600L of water since it happend

Those levels are just fine. I keep Ca at440-450 and Mag at about 1400. If you want them lower, just let them come down naturally but animal uptake.

I use Red Sea Salt (not the coral pro salt) because I like the Ca and Alk levels compared to Red Sea Coral pro salt.

Here is a guide to the make up of various salt mixes.

Also, I don't know how big your tank is or your coral types, but if you are dosing Alk and Ca you might consider a Calcium Reactor for the Ca and ALK. Then Randy's recipe for Mag.

My system is 6x2x2 mainly SPS

Thanks for the links ill take a look :)

Same size as my tank and I have switched from dosing 2 part to using a Ca Reactor. A bit costly for initial setup but virtually no cost once up and running.

Thanks I will look into it do you have any links to what you are using equipment wise :)

Minimum equipment would be a reactor, I use the Korallin 1502C reactor. You will need a small (5 lb) co2 tank and a regulator - 2 stage. I use a Aquarium Plants co2 regulator. Here is a link on the best, but not necessarily the only - or the cheapest - way to set up a system

We are all here to share and help. Someday, soon if you keep asking questions and doing research, you will do more giving help than receiving help.

Keep on reefing!

After changing 1450L of water the system is now fine and back to normal I only lost one gorgonian so I was lucky here it is now

Least I managed to save the system.

Still waiting for the reply from TMC they received the unit back mid week.
