Ok first I want to id what the white stuff is under this coralhttp://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160629/ea85118fbb39d3ed8ec5414eff070958.jpg.
Second I can't figure out why my corals won't fully open. I've moved them, thinking it was too much current but still the same.
My perimeters are:
Sal 1.024
Nitrates under 10 with api
Kh 8 api
Phos .039 hanna
Calcium 420
Temp 79 to 81
Ph 8.5

Thank you for any information.

The white stuff is sponge. As for why you're Coral aren't happy, not sure.
In the first picture I imagine the GSP could have killed the candy cane, but still not sure

Yeah I was thinking the same thing about the gsp on there. But I can't figure out about my trumpets. I have 2 sets of heads in 2 parts of the tank and both look the same and don't fully open.

The retracted Euphyllia panancora makes me think it could be either a overillumination or excessive flow maybe? Newer corals? Made any changes lately? It's beginning of summer, you watching the temperature behavior of the tank throughout the day?
The candy canes (caulastera curvata) look like a few heads might be salvagable, hard to tell what made them die off, there are a few species of boaring sponges that can damage coral.
Post more details hopefully someone may find the root of the issue.

I had these corals in my 30 gallon and then moved to a 75 gallon tank. They did good in the 30 gallon and then did good first few weeks in the 75. I've moved them in the tank with the same results. I just have the Chinese black box for lights and have at maybe 20%. So my perimeters sound good? My temp does go from 79 to 81 in a days time. Think that could be a problem?

My trumpets are staying the same. No improvement. Hoping someone can help me out. I've moved 4 heads to under a rock with less light and less flow bit it looks just the same as the one directly under my lights. So I'm assuming it's something with my chemistry. So I took some tests today and this is way i came up with
Mg 1300
Temp 78.0 to 79.5
Ph 8.3 to 8.5
Kh 10/179
Nitrates 5
Phosphates .024
Cal 23/460
Does anyone notice anything that maybe a problem?
Thank you for any help

I don't see anything alarming, a 2 degree temp swing isn't a coral killer.
What do you use for a water source? City? Well ? Rodi? Chloromine been checked? Get water from pet store or other source ?
Also salinity? How are you measuring ? If refractometer, is it calibrated with 35ppt?

I use a refractometer and a swing arm. Both give the same salanity. I use city water run through my brs rodi unit with 0ppm output. Seems all my corals like the trumpet are doing the same thing. They dying.
