I just purchased my first container of Aquaforest reef salt. I've had problems with my current salt driving my alkalinity too high. From what I've been able to research Aquaforest comes in at a lower number. I'd rather dose up then have an alkalinity spike and lose my SPS's. If this goes well, then I'll look to moving into the rest of the program. Currently, I'm dosing with ESV ALK,Ca, and Mg.

Awesome glad to hear about the switch. I have personally seen my SPS reef go as low as 5.3dkh with no problems at all. I try to shoot for alk at around 6.8-7.4 dkh. The salt typically is between 7.0-7.8 dkh, an occasional batch may show at 8.0dkh, but not usual. The salt mixes very well, and balanced to NSW values. Best of luck! Cheers :)

Thanks Perry,
I did a water change the other day and my current salt measured at 10.3 DKH. It's just the push I needed to try Aquaforest.

OK @Aquaforest. I did my first 15 gallon water change with AF Reef Salt. I want to know why I haven't seen my SPS grow at least an inch in the last hour. Seriously, I've been in the saltwater hobby for almost 30 years and I've never seen a salt mix as clean as yours did. There was nothing in the bottom of the bucket, at all. I live in an apartment, so I can't make large quantities of water ahead of time. I do 5 gallon buckets at a time and mix the water with a cordless drill and a paddle attachment. I was shocked. We'll see how it goes from here.
