Do the tubes have a crown or anything?

featherdusters

They really don't look like featherdusters as I know them,...do you have any links that I could refer to? Thanks !

I also have quite a few Spirorbid worms,...I was wondering if the white hair like stuff is related .

They might be Hydroids of some sort. The link below should help.

Don't forget to clink on the other links at the top of the page too. (Hydrozoan Identification, Hydrozoan Behavior etc)

No,...not at all,...those are what I would id as featherdusters. Thanks !

Thanks Animagus,...but none of the Hydrozoan's pics fit. They are like whiskers as in the pic I posted. In fact the pic is from another reefers thread that is asking the same question,...his pic is far better than I could take, but mine are exactly the same so there are at least two tanks with them. :)

Couple more shots I took this morning (you can zoom in on these for closer look) > http://i.imgur.com/8oztH5S.jpg , http://i.imgur.com/HDNiHVB.jpg , http://i.imgur.com/itUuT0W.jpg , , http://i.imgur.com/GMZf2SO.jpg , http://i.imgur.com/JypPpTM.jpg ,

Any ideas or where I might look will be appreciated.---Rick

Are the tubes soft or somewhat brittle?

007Bond

The white hair are kind of stiff like whiskers,...they really don't move in the flow.

Do they look anything like these up close? Notice the small whisker like appendages at the tips.

No not really,...those appear like small featherdusters.

What about the Genus Antennellopsis at the top of this page?

I looked through them and don't see what I have. They seem to be 1/2 to 3/4 inch and rigid in form.

Anyone else have an idea what these are? They seem to prefer more flow and less light. Thanks,---RICK

Albino feather dusters?

007Bond
07/18/2016, 09:45 AM
Thanks,...but I don't see any feathers,...at least as I know feathers dusters. they are like whiskers in form fairly ridge,...they don't move with the flow.

So nothing comes out?

Sorry for the delay in getting back. No nothing,...I have watched closely and don't see anything as to why they are growing. They are like whiskers is the only way I can describe them. I have asked the same question on a couple different forums here on RC,...if someone ids them I'll post back. May be they are very rare and I should be selling them ---Rick

How does it feel to the touch? Soft? Brittle?

AlSimmons

They might just be some sort of calcareous sponge.

007Bond

I would say soft,...yet stiff enough that flow don't move them, but I think they like flow as they seem to be in less light areas with flow,...if I rub hard I can break them off.

Maybe it's my imagination but where the background is dark it sure looks like some kind of fuzz at the end of each tube.

Hmm yeah. FEATHER DUSTERS CONFIRMED
