Changing Filter on QT

I'm replacing my old marineland 100 on my 10g QT with an aquaclear 30. What's the best way to get the new filter seeded? Run both on the qt? Throw the bio max in my DT sump for a few weeks to seed it?

Can you take any of the filter media out and put it in the aqua Clear?

I just have sponges in my marineland that I leave in my FT sump until it's needed. Then instantly cycled filter.

All thats in the marineland is a carbon cartridge and the biowheel.
