Ive found my old Kent Marine Phos Reactor and a small pump for my new 50 gallon tank.
Should I use the reactor for Phosphate or Carbon media? or could you actually put both of them into the chamber and best way to do this?

Here is a link to the reactor I have:

Do you have a need to run GFO (elevated phosphates?) ?

In general as their useful life is different its better to run them by themselves unless you can easily swap each out as needed..(filter bag,etc...)

But if you don't need GFO then why spend money on it..
Carbon might be more beneficial to you..

Sorry- just getting back into the hobby after 10 years absence. What is GFO? I do have an elevated phosphate level. Is this similar to the Kent Marine Rowaphos?

GFO = granular ferric oxide is the media for phosphate removal..
rowaphos is ferric hydroxide I believe..
both do the same function just slightly different chemically..
Their job is to remove/bind phosphate..

Thanks- Can you put Rowaphos or GFO in a filter bag and Carbon in another filter bag, and place both in a single reactor?
