Title says it all. I did change my DI resin from the water filter. 0ppm ammonia with API.

Instant ocean seems to be mixing with between .25-.5ppm Anmonia.

Now for a reef, I realize this is a small amount and would be consumed. But in mixing salt for hospital style QT. So now what?

Torch my fish?

Ok. So other than that there isn't a way to get 0 ammonia?

If your RO/DI water tests 0 ammonia but when mixed with your salt you get some ammonia then the logical conclusion is it came from your salt.

Maybe you got a bad batch of salt. Solution would be to change salts.

If you want to continue using your current salt then Prime is the fastest solution, esp since its for a HT.

You can put it in a tank with some seasoned live rock and let it convert ammonia to nitrate then use it but that takes up resources and time.

Thank you for the response. I've already searched and this seems to be popular with instant ocean. .5 readings are normal. I'm just concerned with dosing prime since I can't seem to measure harmful ammonia at that point.
