Thoughts on the kessil gooseneck vs. the mounting arm? Looking at mounting a few over my tank and looking for good and bad of each mounting option of the above.

Thanks in advance.

Well..
goosenecks that rely on friction for maintaining position are always a problem IMO..
Nothing like it failing down into your tank over time..

I don't have any first hand experience with either one, but the mounting arm looks so much cleaner IMO.

I have used both and I prefer the mounting arm. Also I now have a AquaticLife Halo LED which has it's own Mounting arm which I like. The very same mounting arm also works with a Kessil. You may want to check that one out.

The mounting arm is cleaner, it also has cord management - you can run your cords inside the metal tube. The Kessil Gooseneck has no such option.

the arm is cleaner but it doesn't have nearly the reach that the goose neck has with the 90 degree adapter. I used black shrink wrap tubing and you cant see any wire. Withe the arm my light would not be in the middle of my tank and the coverage wont be even.

I'm not sure I understand how you wouldn't be able to get the light in the middle of your tank. Do you own the mounting arm? You must have a pretty deep tank.

Here is a couple of months old picture of my tank - https://goo.gl/photos/pvCJWPqj3yB7qKDT9, AP700 in the middle and 160s on the end, all using the mounting arm. The piece the light screws into is adjustable/extendable.

All the pieces I'm using comes in the box.

I have an AIO so i have the filtration in the back of the display, its about 4 inches wide. Even the goose neck without the adapter was coming up short. Once i use the adapter it freed up the inches it used to curve the neck down for the light to shine down.

My tank is 20 inches deep and I still have no issue with the arm reaching the middle of the tank.
