I bought my Red Sea Max 250 second hand about 6 months ago off a guy who was running 6x34" GLO T5s. I've only been looking into lighting recently and I saw some people using ATIs for their own Red Sea 250s. I started looking on the internet for ATI 39W T5 lights, and while most 39W T5 HO fluorescent lights seemed to be 34 inches like the Red Sea ones, the ATI ones were 36 inches.
My confusion arises because I saw a bunch of posts of people using ATI lights for their tanks when they seem to be different lengths from other lights like this one http://redseamaxreef.com/red-sea-max-250-lighting/ - is it possible to fit 36" ATI bulbs in 34" sockets without much modification? Sorry if this is a dumb question please don't be harsh. I'm from Australia if that is useful information about differing light sizes or something. Cheers!
