Silicates???

6 month old low nutrient(ph0.03/nitrate2) SPS tank has brown fuzzy growth on rocks and substrate after 10% volume water change. The fuzzy growth goes away but reappears each water change.

I am using a BRS RO/DI with new filters and my inline TDS meter reads 0. My mixing container is a plastic storage tote with folding lids that I have used for years, could this be the culprit?

How well does standard Ro/DI remove silicates and will they even cause my problem?

Silicate dissolved in water should show up on your tds meter. I would look elsewhere, or chalk it up to it being a new tank
