I have set up my first 75gal reef tank and have a Eshopps pf-1000 overflow. It has two u tubs to transfer water from tank to the box on the back of the tank. I am having a problem keeping both u tubs running. The overflow is rated at more then the amount of water that is circulating thru the box. Anyone know if it ok to run just one u tube. I plan on purchasing a CPR Aquatics overflow but will be a few months before i can afford a new overflow.

Unless you want to come home to a mess, I would get a proper external overflow installed with the aqualifter etc. When I ran one I installed a high float in the tank that would turn the return pump off in case of failure.

CPR's are not the best, look int a Lifereef.

There is a good chance that your return pump is not strong enough. How many GPH is your pump rated.

I used one tube before I upgraded. It worked but I was always afraid it would fail. I would say your return pump isn't moving enough water
