Whats up RC!!

Been awhile since I've been on and updated anything. The last time I was on and did a thread I had just finished up my 90 gallon build. I'll post the thread below.
http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2265244

Anyways, much has changed since my first tank that I had, a 46 gallon bow front. I quickly realized that I wanted more room so I could pack it full of fish and coral. So I picked up that used 90, while it took awhile to get it up and running it was well worth it. Its always great when you can make something from scratch. So after about a year or so, and building a few small tanks for other people, I decided the 90 just wouldn't do anymore.

I started the looking around and trying to decide on the best, biggest used tank I could find. After several on my quest I came across this guy on CL....

I filled it with water and about 20 gallons of vinegar, and pump to try and get the coralline loosened up..

next task at hand was getting the holes drilled, and painting the glass.

I decided to go with 4 1 inch holes for the returns and 4 1.5 inch holes for the drains. At this point the next major hurdle was getting this bad boy to my basement. and breaking down the 90 gallon that I had setup. A lot of the corals were sold since I wasn't going to have room in my temp setup. Thankfully I had some really nice neighbors that came over to help get it down the stairs. Only cost me a case of beer! Here's a picture of it setting in front of the 90.

Now I'm sure everyone wants to know what equipment I decided to use, lights,skimmer,pumps,ect..
So here is a quick run down..
Skimmer- Reef Octopus Classic 200 INT
Return Pump- Waveline DC
Lights- DIY Leds- will show a few pics later on
Flow- Ecotech MP40 wes x2
APEX- Controlling all

After finally getting my 90 broken down and sold I could finally start on plumbing and getting this big guy going.

Already running in to an issue... when test fitting the skimmer under the stand I only had about an 1.5 inches above it.

Now on to under the hood..

I really wanted to get a custom sump made from acrylic but really didn't want to spend the funds.. So when you can't spend the big bucks, DIY!! Bought a 40 breeder and a few sheets a acrylic for the big box store. and this is what I came up with..

http://i557.photobucket.com/albums/ss13/adamcvoylesadam1103/IMG_1365resize_zpse3ilyv2p.jpg
http://i557.photobucket.com/albums/ss13/adamcvoylesadam1103/IMG_1366resize_zpshbbalx3t.jpg

I'm Sure I'm going to get SH!T for using krylon Fusion to paint the acrylic thats going to be in the water. Also I added a few more baffles to the far left side for bubble traps.

LET THERE BE LIGHT!!!

So I had 2 of these over my 90 gallon tank, and while they did the job I never really liked the looks of them. It just wasn't the finished look I wanted anymore. Especially since I was going to do a suspended canopy above the tank.
http://i557.photobucket.com/albums/ss13/adamcvoylesadam1103/IMG_0619resize_zpsxqe9rcke.jpg

So while I was surfing the Led Web I came across the Onyx housing kits and couldn't pass them up for the price.
http://i557.photobucket.com/albums/ss13/adamcvoylesadam1103/Onyx_Kit__09262.1383955253.640.640%20resize_zps7bpaw3rb.jpg
But again wasn't happy with the amount of Leds so I decided to ramp it up a little. The Onyx housing came with spots for 28.
My concern was 28 over a 2ftx2ft area wouldn't provide enough par for most SPS. So I drilled new holes with a step bit and was now ready for 35 Cree Leds!! I'll post colors at the end of this.
http://i557.photobucket.com/albums/ss13/adamcvoylesadam1103/IMG_1380resize_zpshz067uem.jpg
http://i557.photobucket.com/albums/ss13/adamcvoylesadam1103/IMG_1387resize_zpsafzqbjn8.jpg
Still needed a couple of Lenses.

So for color layout per Onyx housing:
1 Cree XP-E Green
2 Phillips lime
1 Cree XP-E Red
1 Cree XP-E Red/orange
1 Phillips Cyan
6 420 Violet
10 Cree XT-E Royal Blue
6 Cree XP-E Blue
7 Cree XP-G2 Cool White
So I also had 4- 36 Inch T5s- 2ATI coral plus and 2ATI aqua blue special. T5s would run for about 6 Hrs a day and Leds about 11. I was getting about 250-300 par about halfway down the tank with the Leds at about 50 percent.

Canopy and all the Lights above the tank. I places a cabinet beside the tank to hold the necessities. It also housed the 12 gallon ATO bucket.
I started adding my rock back into the system. most of them were done with the acrylic rod method.

Friend hooked me up with this little guy
http://i557.photobucket.com/albums/ss13/adamcvoylesadam1103/IMG_1455resize_zpsljttybzr.jpg

So around this time the wife and I had decided to build a new house... the basement was started back in april. and is still under construction now. We put our house on the market the last week of March and in 24hrs had 13 offers most above asking price!!
So what to do?? The tank was broken down and everything was moved to my inlaws house where we have been since mid April. So now the tragic part of the story. The day before we closed on our house I had hired a moving company to come over and move the tank, I couldn't convince my great neighbors to go up the stairs with it. So 4 guys show up to my house and make it up the stairs, out the door, and well almost down the two stairs leading to the ground....
http://i557.photobucket.com/albums/ss13/adamcvoylesadam1103/IMG_1493resize_zpsvjeaajpa.jpg
So here in Kentucky moving companies do NOT insure any glass items. but fortunately the owner of the company was nice enough to pay for part of the tank.
So with that being said... I will soon be the owner of a new 300DD!!!! And in a new house with a dedicated fish room!! So new build coming hopefully soon.... Should be closing on the new house mid to late September. I can't wait to get my new tank up and running!!!
