I must say I am very pleased with what Richard has sent for me so far. I am building a 240 gallon tank. I had about 120-150lb of rock from my previous system that I started with. I knew if I ordered a package equivalent to a 240, I would end up with way to much rock. So I ordered for a 110, which seemed to put me in the right place rock wise. My only issue is I did not allow for enough live sand for this. I have messaged Richard about any concerns with adding more when part 2 ships.

I live near Wilmington NC. So when I ordered, Delta told Richard it would take about 2 days to get the rock to me. It was switching planes a few times to make the trek from Tampa to here. Needless to say, I got a surprise call this evening during supper that my shipment was in. I am super stoked to be entering this part of my build. I will post some pics tomorrow once the water clears up a bit more.

Odd they told you 2 days! My TBS shipment was in my tank in Alaska 24 hours after Richard dropped it off in Tampa!

Glad they got it to you sooner!

Richard told me it was due to switching flights. Not sure what happened. But it was a surprise no doubt

Wilmington is an itsy bitty airport....just commuters fly in there.....and they can't take much freight due to weight restrictions. Delta would not book it for any of the little planes, but they did have a MD80 <big plane> afternoon flight that it did book on.

After I dropped your shipment yesterday afternoon my delta agent pulled off a miracle and talked to Atlanta yesterday where the freight changes planes, and somehow made the commuter flight with only two hours between flights, which NEVER happens in Atlanta.... lol

One of the quickest change of planes shipments yet!

Day 3 and all looks good. I hear lots of clicking when the lights go out at night. The rock is loaded with life. My brittle star made an appearance last night which was awesome. Looking forward to seeing what part 2 brings.
Here are a few pictures of the rock as it sits now. Once I see what comes with part 2, I will start the squad cape then.

I spoke with my LFS yesterday about several fish he was holding for me. I think he was a bit upset because I didn't use him for purchasing live rock. His prices for rock is no par with Richards. But is has no life on the rock. He said I would have terrible nitrate issues with tbs rock. I guess time will tell, but the only thing I have found is great reviews.
Looking forward to part 2

Just a few shots of life on the part one rocks. I have counted numerous shrimp and good crabs in the books and crannies. When my lights dim, the symphony of clicking begins. I have saw a couple of tiny gorilla crabs as well. I am waiting on part two before I begin the process of trapping them. The crabs with the feeder fans are awesome though. I have at least 3 hitchhiker urchins and one nice brittle star. Not too bad for a 110 gallon order.
I started working with my rock scape last night. I am terrible with such things. The whole time my wife was screaming not to crush the life on the rocks. Richards instructions state to put the side with no life down while scaping. Yeah, good luck with that. Most pieces have life on all sides.

Army of snails, hermits, shrimp, a royal grammar, flame scallop, cukes, sponges, assorted gorgs, 2 anemone and who knows what else. Now to the rock. It looks like puddled sponge and other growth. It will sure take a while to get this tank scaped. Simply can't say enough good stuff about Richard and what he provides

So I saw a very strange thing in my water column just then. Lights been out for an hour's with lunar LEDs running. Was shining flashlight looking over my rock. This thing looked sorta orange. Was maybe an inch long and very slender. Almost tube like. It moved very fast. It will be impossible to take a pic of it. Could it be a squid of some sort? It did not seem to pulse in its movement. Very steady and would turn very quickly. Seemed to like to see against the current from the powerheads

Richard, I keep knocking the hermits off the gorgs. Are they trying to munch on them?

Richard, I found my gramma. Living behind my return pump in the sump. I caught him and returned him to the display. He immediately jumped in the overflow box again. Caught him again. He's hiding in the rock now. Little bugger has a death wish

Mine hid in a cave for about a week- was very shy and would barely come out to eat. Now he's always out. Great little fish that brings a pop of color!

Yo

turned on the lights in the shop...and saw an orange worm...free swimming..about 1/2 the size of a pencil lead..and 1.5 inches long......and on his head looked like a propeller..bright red....going round and round..back and fourth...about 1/4 inch in length..he moved very fast with it...undulating like nessie ...lol.. ..strangest thing I have seen in a while....never seen one before in 40 years...does that sound like the orange worm you were describing??

guess I need to get a pic :hmm5:

Mine looked about an inch. The thing was jetting around so fast it was hard to keep a light on it. Haven't saw it lately

Take care of things in this order. Family, property, and tank. Everything else will work out on its own.
