Hi there,
Just bought some live rock from Big Als. I have put the rock in my aquarium and noticed this attached to one piece. Any idea of what it is and if it's a danger to my aquarium? I have a 120 gal FOWLER.

Aiptasia. Harmless mostly but an eye sore and will replicate quite easily. You get get a few peppermint shrimps (if you don't have aggressive fishes). Or simply use Joe's juice or inject lime juice etc to get rid of it.

Get about 5 peppermint shrimp, and add them. inject boiling water or kalkwasser into any that you see. You do not want those in your tank.

Already did the boiling water. Done and gone. Looks like I only had the one... so far.

I have had them my my tank before. In one year they were around 2-3 at most. Certainly did not take over the tank. Only one was in out front visible and an eye sore. That's about it.

The problem with trying to remove them is that it can disperse spores and will spread more than before. That's why I never bothered. In my new setup, I got a couple of small ones left over on old rock. I just put in 2 peppermint shrimp and they were gone. I don't see any in my new setup. :bounce1:

You argument may be true for tanks that have dirty water.

A note on peppermints: They might take 1 or 2 coral polyps.
