That depends on the flow rate. With an appropriate flow rate it should kill cyanobacteria. I'd have to search around to find a flow table. From the few links I was able to find, something like 50-60 gph should be okay. You could try that, and see what effect it has. One source is quoting 15,000 - 30,000 uWs/cm<sup>2</sup>. Do you have a rating for your bulb?

Sorry don't have rating for bulb its just a coralife 9 watt UV bulb running on a Rio 600 pump off the back of 40 breeder tank. Probably by now what I stirred up last night is either dead or settled. Thanks.

You're welcome. I would bet that 50 gph is close enough.
