I am trying to decide if one XR30 will work (maybe with the wide angle) or two XR15's. Does anyone have any advice?

Thanks a lot.

XR30s are on sale at BRS for $600 if you order in 2 hours. 2 XR15s would be $640, so I would just get the XR30 because it is cheaper.

Thanks for the heads up.

I don't think that sale ends tonight. Just until they are all sold out. I might order one in a few days.

Ecotechmarine have pretty good customer support for these type of questions. You can call/livechat - they will make a recommendation based on tank dimensions.

I have a single XR30 on my 30x24x24 cube. It does fine, if you're in a pinch. You can grow what you want in it. I have acros and milli growing and colored up in the center and high up. I have zoas and LPS scattered and around the bottom, they grow great.

That being said, I just bought a used XR30 gen 1 I'm planning to upgrade and put on the cube. 1 XR works fine, but you will notice shadowing when your corals start growing up and toward the light. Corals on the perimeter of the aquarium will get less light and only from 1 side. I'm hoping the 2nd XR30 will fix this.

For x18x18, I'd say you're fine with a single XR30. If you find you need another later because of coverage, just buy it later.

I would definitely go with two XR15s. You can place them 10" apart on centers and get better coverage overall. I have 3 over my 60" tank with 4 48" T5s
