skimz vs Aquamaxx vs any skimmer

I purchased a Skimz SM203dc a few months ago. I have had a hard time with constant adjustments getting this skimmer to skim. Sometimes I wake up in am and find cup full of water. I have a 170 gallon tank. Thinking of trying a different skimmer. Open to suggestions. I was thinking of an Aquamaxx Cone S Q3. My Skimz is a dc pump. Dont really know if a dc pump matters in a skimmer.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

How long have you had it? It takes a while for any skimmer to hit its stride.

That skimmer is supposed to be BA

Bang for buck I like the your choice aquatics dc22 I'm running alongside my nyos220. Both have outlived my q3

I had the Aquamaxx EM300 on my 120 and I enjoyed it, but when I upgraded to the 240, I purchased the Simplicity 540DC. I love this skimmer, very durable, quiet, and powerful and didn't break the bank neither. Just another one to look at.

I love my SM203, never a problem.
Set it low, and creep up on it slowly.
I leave the pump on full, valve open fully, and make any adjustments with the air valve.
