View Full Version : Confused with APEX/Vortech NTM

Ok I'm lost here folks. I have my MP40's set to Nutrient Export Mode at 50% every day at 12pm and 6pm. Now the problem................ at 12pm and 6pm the Apex tells the Vortechs to go to NTM at 50%.................fine and dandy right? but, then by 3pm and 9pm it has ramped up to 100%............ which is what time the Vortechs go to Reef Crest Mode @ 100% anti sync.

Why is Nutrient Export Mode not staying constant at 50% from 12pm to 3pm and 6pm to 9pm? Why is it ramping up? What am I doing wrong.

Nutrient transport will do short pulses for a while, then goes to a long pulse for a couple minutes to flush stuff down the overflow. I forget the timeframe because I haven't used it other than when I first got a Vortech and was checking out the modes.

Correct, I realize that. However the Nutrient Export Mode should never go higher than the user set percentage on Apex Fusion right? In my case the highest speed for me and my size tank is 50% Then toward 3:00 it's at 100% which is precisely when it should switch from Nutrient Export to Reef Crest.

Try setting points in Fusion at 2:59 and 8:59 for NTM at 50%.

I believe that Fusion adjusts power to the pumps in a slope, but changes the mode at the points specified.

Thanks Breadman, I will try that. I guess I thought that the 50% would stay at 50% from 12pm to 3pm and 6pm to 9pm. I didn't realize I may have to set the percentage lower during the 3 hour time blocks.

So I recon
12:00 NTM 50%
13:00 NTM 50%
14:00 NTM 50%
14:30 NTM 50%
14:59 NTM 50%

LOL. Seems odd that Apex Fusion would do that. It would be a hell of a lot easier to just allow the user to do

12:00 to 14:59 NTM 50%
15:00 Reef Crest 100%

That's the way the Fusion graphical scheduler works. Look at the lines on the graph- it's doing exactly what you told it to do by ramping up or down between points which have different intensity settings.

To get the pump to stay at NTM/50, add a new point a few minutes before the RC/100 point. Configure that point for NTM/50. This way, it will stay at 50%.

Copy that! Thank you for the help gentlemen.

You do not need do it every hour. That's just unnecessary programming. The 12:00 and 14:59 points are sufficient.
