I currently have a 40 breeder tank and just picked up a fluval evo 5 that I am going to take a shot at. I am wondering if I will be able to put any fish in it? Anyone else have this tank?

I have the spec v, older version of evo. Have had 2 clowns in it for about year and a half.

A little small for clowns, a clown goby, tail spot blenny or Catalina goby would work well though

I agree that its a bit small for clowns but i got them very small and i think they stop growing when they are in a small tank. They've been in the tank for over a year and i think they have maxed out in term of growth. The larger one is only an inch long. But they seem to doing really well

I think they are fine for now at least, they are just not my first choice for such a small tank. I'm glad yours have worked for you though

Aren't Catalina gobies only good in coldwater?

Catalinas do live much longer in cold water so you would Have to do a colder tank

What about a royal gamma? Too small a tank I'm thinking.

LiveAquaria says minimum 10g for Possum Wrasse, so you could probably keep a juvenile for a bit but you'd probably have to get rid of it after it grows a bit.

Neon Green Clown Gobies are good fish for small tanks... Maybe even a small clownfish, or yasha goby. Tailspot blenny would work too.

No chance on the royal gramma, they need bigger tanks for sure.

For what its worth, ill second the tailspot blenny. Have one in a very similar tank to yours. He's a very clean eater(unlike a clown) which would be important in a small tank, helps a little with algae and over all adds kinda a goofy personality!

A rarer option would be a white cap goby, I have one in my 30 but it would be perfect in a 5, they max out at 1.2 inches and are really cool especially when paired with a pistol shrimp
