Hi,

I have seen this gigantea in photographs sent vía whatsapp. I am planning to buy it but I am not sure about the color. It is not green but more closed to yellow. Is it possible for the nem to be dyed?

It's the natural color, but it could possibly change from yellowish to a more green color. I don't think there is a gigantea that is a true yellow color (like a tennis ball). Most yellow ones I've seen eventually turned green. When slightly bleached they do look yellow though.

Yes it is a true color but he will likely get darker once he is healthy unless you have him in extremely high light.

Hi, I will introduce the green gigantea ito the DT. I will place him in the rocks wich form the central "island":

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/Djm-hXhq8wk" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Do you think I should treat him before?. I am going to pick him in the LFS and he looks healthy, but I am concerned if he can transfer pathogens to the mag already establishes in DT

I would at least quarantine it for 2 weeks to a month to be sure it is healthy.

+1. I do this with any new anemone going into a system with established anemones.

I picket the nem today. The LFS was 400 Km from Madrid. I took a beach fridge and a powerhead connected to the car through an inverter (DC-AC converter). 800 kms in 8 hours [emoji41]. I bought also the rock that the nem was attatched to. I placed the nem in a QT. It looks OK

Looks great. Good luck with it. You definitely deserve for it to live after all the effort you put into getting it. I just got one that looks very similar but it's not in near as good of shape.

And 24 after the placement into QT he has deflated once and now has this shape:

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/OeZeKvG9sB4" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

The mouth is not everted but I think that maybe I should start the treatment right now in order to catch in time.

What do you think?

OrionN

Give him less flow by direct the PH to the surface or wall. I would start treatment now or fore sure if he deflates again for sure. He does not look bad but not great either. Best of luck I know how hard it is for you to get one. I would treat now.

Yes , your are right. It is a bit flattened. When you touch it has a strong reaction and turns to a fantastic shape. I think this is a good thing

Today he was deflated for about eight hours, later recovered

This a photo I took from the IP cam, this morning:

http://i1075.photobucket.com/albums/w440/angeletepro/IMG_1114_zpsgjrfgq2v.png (http://s1075.photobucket.com/user/angeletepro/media/IMG_1114_zpsgjrfgq2v.png.html)

He was expeling zooxhantellae. I have lowered the power of the led light

But during the afternoon and evening he got better:

Mouth is a bit open

Anyway I think he can deflate again. Today is the third day under treatment

After one week of treatment and back to QT, no deflation happened again

I wil place him in DT in a spot reserved arranging the rocks around. You can see in the attached video

I placed the nem in DT three days ago. Since then he has deflated everyday. I am not sure if I should transfer him to HT for a second treatment or wait to see if he can recover

I do not mind about a second treatment but I am concerned because I do not know what is better: to wait or to treat again.

These pictures shown the nem in DT during the last three days

I would bring him back out and treat him again. The sooner the better. Consider change med to Septra. If you don't treat him, he will not make it.
If you treat him, it does not mean that he will make it but it is the only chance he have.

Thanks

I have placed the nem in HT with a mix of 50 mg/litre of cloranfenicol and 12 mg/litre of cypro. He is attatched to a rock but starting to detacht

That sucks. I've given up on gigs for now unless I find one that's been in captivity for a while. I've lost two even with treating. I went with a Magnifica for my perculas now. I like them almost as much as gigs and they seem much easier to get past the initial infection stage.
