Done a lot of research as I've gotten started with this hobby. I've found success running a Biocube 29 skimmer, but I am curious if the success is limited.
Another consideration is adding a second Biocube skimmer thus doubling the work load to fully accommodate a 55 DT & roughtly 10 gal sump.
Any advice or words of wisdom is appreciated.
Thx

Buy ONE good skimmer and throw that thing out. By going cheap on reef equipment, you will have only limited success. It might work for a while, but just because those things come with the 29 biocube, it does not mean that by "Doubling" up it will work for your specific requirements. Look on the forum or Craigslist and buy a good in sump skimmer for your 55, you will not be disappointed and it is one less thing you have to "check off" your list.
1. SKIMMER
2. LIGHTING
3. QUALITY TEST KITS (MAG, ALK, CALCIUM, SALINITY)
4.WELL DESIGNED SUMP/FUGE.
Good luck

I posted in your duplicate thread in the other sub forum..
yes.. it would be a waste of your time for the most part.. That skimmer is not sufficient..

Thank you both. Sorry for the duplicate posting. I want to step up to a 90 gallon and transition while the tank is fairly new and coral frags are small enough to allow for a more aesthetically pleasing aquascape.
I'll invest in a better skimmer before I make the transition. I know cutting corners will hurt in the long run, but seeing the load the typical skimmers are meant to handle I thought it would be overkill on a 55.
My mistake :headwally:
