Hi all,

On June 3rd, I added two Dispar Anthias to my system. Until last weekend they both had been doing great eating almost anything I put into the tank. On Saturday, 10/1, I noticed I could only find 1 Anthias. I wrote him/her off as a victim of carpet surfing or something but never found the carcass. Tonight (5 days later) I get home from work and found him. I shot this 'longish' video of him. I assume he is on his way out as I have not seen him eat since last Friday. Before you ask...nothing has changed in the system. No new food, no new fish (in months), no new corals in a month, no other fish have disappeared or are acting strange (all are eating and acting normal).

I have no clue as to why he suddenly is sick like this nor any clue as to what is causing it.

Anthias have some strange behaviors. From swimming out in the open water, to watching them cling and crawl through the rock work.

Is this one spending any time at all swimming in the water column?

It appears it might be a swim bladder issue and he can't achieve neutral bouyancy to be able to float.

It's not necessarily a countdown to demise. My male Flameback angels swim bladder stopped working normally over a year ago, and he is still making his way around the tank (albeit not smoothly) and is still spawning.
