Wondering if anyone has some good wooden diy stand designs i could look at for building a stand for a new 48x24x24 glass tank.
I have seen some on google but wanted to know if maybe there is a standard to go off of on here.
Would like to have room for a 40 breeder sump or similar.

Its plenty strong..

Note the goal of the loads on the lumber in compression vs relying on fasteners in shear

^^^What he said^^^

It sorta depends on your skill level. If you are new(ish) to wood working then that plan will build you a stand that will hold way more than just a simple 120g tank. It can easily be modified for pretty much any size tank you want, and as long as the basic idea is maintained, will be plenty strong enough. The only skill needed is the ability to cut identical pieces with square ends. Skin it in a variety of ways (plywood, commonly) and then paint or stain it and you will be good to go. I recently sold my old 150 long and the stand I built for it - the stand was every bit as strong as it was when I built it 20+ years ago.

And the other side is that a stand "could" be built with plywood alone with proper joints and be plenty strong too and have optimal space available..
But if you have to ask... refer back to rockets tutorial..;)
Its a lot of water/weight.

Now that there is funny! I'm not laughing at you - more with you:p:p

I've been making things from wood for many years and I don't have anywhere near all the tools.

All you need for RocketEngineers design is a miter (chop) saw that is setup properly so that it will actually cut square and a couple basic hand tools (although a nice cordless drill will save you lots of time and effort)

Good Luck, and Post pictures!!!

Make sure and keep your electrical and electronics seperated from your sump area. I also made the sump area of my stand where it could hold water. That way minor spills were contained within the stand and not out on the floor.

I have all the tools as well. I've made one for a 75, one for a 150 and this one is for a 120, Super strong. All I did was look at what marineland or aqueons design and instead of building with staples and pine I use oak, kreg pocket screws and gorilla glue. I could park a car on these stands, I really don't understand why people give up so much space using 300lbs of 2x4s. I even leave the ends open for more doors so I have more access. I have the doors made at cabinetdoors.com which are awesome doors...mine should be here by the end of the week.

If you have any doubt on the stand holding up here is the same stand design with the 150 gallon sitting on it full and running.

Do you have instructions or something on how to build it like this? I've only come across plans using 2x4s? My main question is how to connect all the pieces and what size wood you use. Close ups of how you're joining pieces would be helpful too. Thank you!

Ill take some pics later today and try and document how to go about building the stand for anyone who wants to build one themselves.
