hi all

i have been cycling my tank using AF bio S and have been using Salifert no2 test kit . i would dose the bacteria in the morning before work, i will measure before dosing and the reading will be at 1 and in the evening it will be at 0.1. so i used API to counter check and it is 0

which test should i trust ?

I would trust salifert, but both should should provide useable readings. If your nitrites are being consumed, your cycle is well under way and you should see an increase in nitrate levels as the nitrite is converted. Have you tested NO3?

Do you have a LFS to test your water? Salifert tend to be high end tests and very reliable.

Those numbers are very close and 0.1 ppm of nitrite is safe for a marine tank. I'd just ignore it. I had a tank that measured a small amount of nitrite for months for no discernible reason. The same kit read zero on my other tanks, so I think it was a real reading. The animals all were fine.
