I finally caught the yellow tail damsel in my tank! So pumped I just have to share the story...and maybe it might help others...
This damsel and a 6line were causing problems a couple months ago so I bought a Bubble Magus trap and caught the 6line no problem. The Damsel however was another story. It (I call all my fish IT because I have no idea if they're male or female, except for the clowns lol) would go into the trap a couple inches but it's so fast that when I pull the cord and the door started to drop, it would easily escape...this has happened numerous times over the past couple months of feeding thru the trap. I could easily catch every other fish in my tank, they swim all the way in, but not the damsel. About two weeks ago I just gave up and let the Damsel be...it's time consuming feeding thru a trap, turning off the pumps and waiting every night for the fish to swim in. Fast forward to this morning, a light went on in my head when feeding...I noticed the damsel would be the first to swim to the food when I poured it in and not pay attention to anything else while eating. So I thought, tonight why not grab my net (about 6" by 4") and see if I can grab it when I feed. Fed on one side of the damsel, waited for it to swim in and brought the net in from the blind side...GOT IT!!! Obviously it was a fast grab and probably wouldn't have been able to do it again for some time if I had missed, due to it being freaked out. Anyway, it's now in my trap (which doubles as an isolation box) waiting to go back to the LFS. So happy that's done!
