Hey There!
I want to share my setup with you guys because we dont have a very active reef-community here.
All started one or maybe two years ago when i decided to build a large ReefTank.
At the moment i have a heavy modified Juwel 450L aquarium with around 15 fish and several soft-corals but mainly LPS/SPS.
The new setup is made of optiwhite-glass 3200x1000x1000mm around 3200L / 875G (sry for the metrics i live in Switzerland :)
Filter: 3500x1000x700mm floatglass around 1750L / 46G
Total system volume: 1335G / 5000L
The reason i built such a large filter is that im really not happy with my current setup (too small refugium and only moderate throughput of water). So i have to use phosphate-remover and some other components i would like to be left out.
Some specs:
Skimmer: rated for 8000L
http://www.aquariumtechnik.at/SuperDelDoubleEN.html
Light: 2x ATI Sirius x8 over the tank
1x Giesemann Infinity 3x 250w HQI & 4x80w T5
Return:
3x Aquabee 11kL/h (they are planned to run at 90-100% each, around 30'000l/h through the sump)
Flow:
2x Panta Rhei ECM42, (might have to get another 2)
Trace-Elements:
Shuran Jetstream1 Calcium Reactor
Please ask if i forgot something :)
Here some pictures of the progress, in about one week the silicone is ready for water.
best regards
Joel

Wow 3.2 meters long, impressive.
What kind of stand is that? The way the pictures show it looks similar to an 80/20 aluminum we have over here that's just build as you go with slotted aluminum.

Thanks! i focused on minimal ground contact to eliminate dead spots and give the fish room to play. its a bit clean and symetric now, will add more stages with reef-flats to finish it
just ordered some more reef-flats like these, and 180kg salt & sand

I just looked at all your videos.
I really like the flow and the way it is setup.
What is in the sump besides the skimmer? Live rock?
Are you only cycling with the bacteria? A bit worried on when the real cycle begins and everything starts on your rock structure, which is very nice by the way.

hi there, thanks :) will have to improve the flow a little bit the two ecm 42 will be replaced with the ecm 63.
im using some diffrent bacterias and sources to feed them well, dont worry i dont use them all at the same time
http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20161130/058655c4cc0c3785ad129c85fb289943.jpg
in the sump beside the tank is sure a little something but no live rock just some small piece chaeto and caulerpa taxofolia wich i believe will have a hard tine as i have po4 0.00
http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20161130/04d9ebe2aea918fef1b87fe2104f12b0.jpg
nitrate is coming down from day to day started the peak with 25 now at 10 all tested with hanna photometer
i limit feeding to an absolute minimum for the next weeks for sure and no more livestock will be added a while but so far i think the cycle is doing well, sps/lps/softcorals all very good looking

I saw that video of them feeding right after you uploaded it. I subscribed to your youtube channel too.
Personally I would add quite a bit of new live rock on there since you are adding the bacteria to make the other live rock also. This will seed it so when the bacteria drop off it will be much less of a issue adding new/more rock for the sump.
Thanks for the update.

Nice feeding video.
While I do think it is neat to have them eat out of your hand, you might want to consider what is on your hands from soap, cleaning chemicals, bacteria, or other gunk. I saw this evident at a friends once when I was at a low angle and a film appeared across the whole tank from him putting his hands in the tank.
Just a point to think about.

hi!
its made out of pla there are some discussions on the internet, but as the probeholder is not in the water and get wet very rare it is no problem. pla would dissolve only after a very long time in saltwater.
alkalinity is at 8.4 dkh
po4 is at 0.00 somedays or after feeding at 0.01
nitrate is at 8
just replaced the 3rd return pump back at 33000l or 8700gal flow per hour (we switched the controller with a spare from my dealer, pump was fine only electronical issue)
