Hello everyone. Need help identifying this algae. It seems to be almost everywhere in my tank by only lightly covering my frag plugs, rock, etc. My nitrates are below <2, I have good flow with my two MP10's, skimming and even have a Santa Monica algae scrubber. Not too sure what to do, but thinking of increasing my CUC. I have 5 trochus snails and 5 nassarius snails in my 40g cube. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

That is green hair algae but its more brown than green because it doesnt do to well.Because your using blue lights that has too little red part of the spectrum ,it cant make much chlorophylle to look green. Also it looks like the algae is starving in the display not only because of the blue lights but also because of the algae scrubber.

The stuff on the glass in the second picture just looks like Diatoms IMO. The algae in the first picture is kind of hard to see. Can you take another picture of it without the blues on?

looks like diatom or browned out hair algae to me. How old is the system? The rock looks pretty darn fresh to me. Turkey Baster and/or long handled brush on the rocks to keep things supspended so the filtration can pull it out should work until the system catches up.

a little more system info would help ;-)

I don't know the specific name.. and not sure if its what I've had..
but its not typical green hair algae..
I get that too on new plastic or rocks that are introduced into the tank..
It only stays around for a few weeks and then just seems to go away..

Mine stays very low and has very fine hair..

Its like a "peach fuzz algae"..

Mine actually grows on my huge cabbage leather for about 1-2 weeks every couple months or so then he sheds it off.. He is in plenty of flow

Thanks for all the responses. System is new. Cycle finished in the second week of September (took 2 weeks to clear ammonia and nitrite to zero within 24 hours). Setup is an IM Nuvo 40 with Hydra 52 HDs, Eheim Jager 100w heater, Tunze 9004 skimmer, Santa Monica 1.2 drop algae scrubber, Tunze ATO, MP10wQD x 2, and intank media basket with Chemipure Elite with filter floss.

Hang in there. It will eventually fade. My current system took over a month to fully cycle.
