I recently picked up a 55 gallon tank with a 20ish gallon sump. I want to redo the plumbing but am very new to the hobby and want to get some advice from the community here. I just ordered a 1800gph overflow box, 2 3/4" bulkheads and 2 1" bulkheads. I want to put the overflow box in the middle of the tank with 2 returns on each corner of the tank. The 2 1" bulkheads will be used for the overflow box and the 2 3/4 will be used for the overflow box. A few questions I have are when drilling holes how high should they be? Does it matter how high or low the returns are in relationship to the overflows, will the returns backfeed if the power turns off to pumps and they are below water level, is this a bad thing? Also when adding a emergency overflow, where would I put this and how big should it be, is it even needed with 2 separate piped overflows to sump?

This has all probley been covered here before but I can't find much specific to what I want to do. Help is much appreciated.
