New reefer here.

My tank is about 9 months old, I have peppermints, randalli pistol shrimps, a YWG, and two clowns. The ric is about 1-1/2 months old now. When I got the ric, it was about the same size, but the mouth was open with a green ring around it. A week later, the mouth closed up was it was like that ever since. (just like in the current picture)

Weeks go by, now I see parts of the ric disappearing. (looks like losing the bubbles) I had it placed on the floor with low flow (the ric barely wobbles).

What could be wrong? Could peppermints (introduced at the same time) be nipping at it? It was fine for a month and today this suddenly happens.

ammonia, nitrite, nitrate is zero. Phosphates and silicates at 0. Temps about 77-78. All other parameters like dKH, Mq are within guidelines. I run a custom LED fixture with 24 cree RB, 8 XM-L white, 8 410 nm UV LEDs. It is controlled with an arduino so I can change the intensity so any level. The problem is, I cannot tell if this is a lighting issue.

Any input or opinions are appreciated. I just want to learn and understand more.

It definitely looks irritated. Check the tank out after the lights have been off for a bit and see if your peppermints are sampling the it.

Watch out when feeding peppermints have killed.my fungia plates from the mouth out because they were scavenging for food.

What kind of lighting? Rics like low light. To high and they melt away.

My peppermint shrimp gets a pellet every other day and he/she leaves my ric's and fungia alone.

Did we ever confirm the Shrimp as the culprit, I have had the same issue.
