That's one I was looking at too.. $150 is getting more reasonable for how simple an algae scrubber is. I was seeing a lot asking $300-$400 for them.. and it just makes me want to build my own at that price. I wonder if noise is a problem with that waterfall style?

Still about 5 times of what it would cost to build a DIY scrubber.

I made mine and I love it!! I did take it offline though, because I want to build a better looking smaller version of it.

If you go on Youtube there are plenty of Ideas for DIY algae scrubbers. Most are fairly basic to make and very cheap, but they get the job done.

Are these lights held on with suction cups? Hard to tell from the photo. If they are, I would worry that they might release at an unexpected time (like the middle of the night) and leach copper into your tank from the LED carrier board. Murphy's law and all that.

Unless they are completely encased or something similar ...

They seem expensive but you will realise why when you will build one .I only build waterfall scrubbers for me and they are extremely silent.I made my waterfall scrubbers with a longer screen mesh so that it sinks in the aquarium water at the bottom a few centimeters to be silent.
