I've used salifert test kits and the results are really high. 5.25. Its a new empty tank being set up as a frag tank. Its got red sea salt in. Also Calicum is 0.02. How to I correct this problem.

I'm sorry I don't understand these parameters, shouldn't calcium be around 400 - 420, not .02.
I'd get a different test kit and try again.
what are you referencing when you say your Alk is 5.25?

Still learning ....the test kit says alkalinity in meq/L 5.25

And calicum says 0.02 which is 490

Yes, that equates to about 15DKH. You can drop alkilinity with muratic acid as long as there is nothing living in the tank yet

I have a single frag.

Red Sea coral pro does have higher cal, alk, and mag. However, make sure when you mix your salt that you are using a refractometer that is calibrated correctly. If you mix with too much salt, you can get really high parameters. You can also take some saltwater out of the system and add fresh water if there is nothing living in the tank as well.

5.25 dkh is not high at all. It is very low! Same with Calcium.

Unless you are using different units.

The instructions say it should be 2.9 hence why I thought its too high.

I see that you measured in meq/l. In that case it is high. What is the salinity? Red Sea Coral Pro mixed to 1.026 should give you alk in the 12s dkh or 4.2meq/l

Are you trying to raise pH with buffer?

No I havent used any buffers or treatments. I will check the salinity later and let you know.
