Trying to figure out what the black spots are on my clown. He's eating like a pig and is very active.
Water parameters are:
Sal 1.024
Cal 380
Phosphate .02
Nitrate 0

Any information would be greatly appreciated

It could be getting stung by the anemone or another coral if multiple are hosting the clown.. is the anemone new? If not theres a potential for black ich I suppose

I know some people say these can be the result of being stung by an anemone, but this happened to my clowns after another fish contracted ich. The clowns got black spots instead of white spots like the other fish. (I didn't have an anemone or coral hosting them at the time.)

I did a tank transfer method for all of my fish, and the spots went away.

USUALLY these are just stings from other corals, but there are instances, for example Fiver above, in which these spots can be black ich, but the ich parasite normally shows up on the face/gill area.

Black ich (a flatworm) presents as much smaller, and more numerous spots. IMO this isn't what you are dealing with.

I don't know; mine did not have smaller and more spots. Mine had spots just like this, and they were not on the face and gills -- they were all over the body and fins just like this.

I'll add that I've since added a RBTA, frogspawn, GSA and toadstool corals, which the clowns all "play" in to some extent, and they've never gotten these black spots from that.

I had the anemone already and recently has the anemone hosted the clown. Just noticed it when started hosting. The Fox face in my tank is not showing any signs of ich so hopefully it's from the stings. So if is black ich, you treat just as regular ich?

No. It's not at all a similar organism. Freshwater dips on the way to a qt tank would be a good way.

A worm killing med, like prazi or flatworm exit, might do some good. Someone else can chime in on this.

I don't think you have black ich though

He doesn't seem at all fazed by it.
