Hey guys I have heard that Kent Tech-Mike formula has changed and is no longer effective in treating Bryopsis. I have heard however that Brightwell Hydrate-MG will do the trick as it has the same ingredients that the old
Tech-M used to have, given the guy that was behind the Kent products now works at brightwell. Can anyone confirm any truth to this?

I'd heard the same thing from my fave LFS owner, as relayed from the Brightwell rep. (Keep in mind that at that time, he was out of Tech-M, but had Brightwell in stock...)

I thought I had my Bryopsis beat with a combination of Tech-M and Brightwell, but the weed came back, so I started hammering it with Tech-M again. It's taking a _lot_ of magnesium and a lot of time, but the stuff looks as though it may finally be in retreat everywhere except my powerheads. Guess whose powerheads are going to get an hour or two in hot water & vinegar real soon?

There are a few other rumours swirling about regarding the devil's weed that is Bryopsis - I've heard promising things about a new product (bacterial in nature) called "Vibrant". BRS-TV stated in one of their videos that they felt that _any_ magnesium product could probably do the job. It's reported that Mr. Kent, having left the company which bears his name, has started a new line called "Continuum", and that the magnesium in that line is sourced from the _old_ source for Tech-M ... the one that worked the magic.

For what it's worth . . .

When I was at RAP Brightwell or actually the brother company Continuum that shared the same booth, indicated Brightwell Hydrate MG is the stuff to get. I have a bottle and I have started treatment.

I thought about trying Vibrant but I have a Potters Angel and Leppard Wrasse I'm picking up next week and I don't want to wipe out my algae and copepod populations. Plus I don't want to get my acro's pale as I already have zero nitrate.

I ordered 3X 2 liter bottles of the continuum magnesium to give it a try. I'll keep you posted on how it works. I dont have alot of Bryopsis however, id like to be done with it once and for all.
