Bean's 300 Gallon AGE Build

I finally got my new tank this weekend!

300 Gallon 72" x 36" x 27"
Acrylic and Glass Exhibits (A.G.E.)
3/4" 4 Sided Starfire (long story :P)
2" Steel Perimeter Bracing Top and Bottom
PVC Bottom
3/4" Acrylic Splash Guard (Euro Style)
No Cross Bracing!
Drilled for 2 x Synergy Reef 16" Shadow Overflow Boxes (1,600 gph each)
Gray Powder Coat

I ordered the stand extended so I can slide my sump further under the plumbing, as well as hide it all eventually with a skin. The shelf may also come in handy later for power supplies and what not.

I finally made some progress this weekend. Moving and baby has made this quite the long build.

The drains are done. I haven't glued anything yet except the unions on the overflows. The white fittings and pipe will be replaced. I ran out of Sch 80 90s and a couple 45s. Don't mind the extra slack at the sump. I also need to finish the emergency drains and dump them into the skimmer section. I may leave the stand 6 inches from the wall and build the skin to cover the back side in case I ever need to get back there for maintenance. With all the pipes it will be challenging to make a repair...otherwise I'd have to drain the tank and move it which would suck. I was going to run most of the drains under the tank, but it was going to take up quite a bit of head room under the stand.

Nothing like spending a bunch of money on nice PVC. 90% which is now hidden behind the tank. LOL

Next up is cutting and painting the metal strut I bought. I'll use it to support the drains underneath, as well as the return lines and manifold.

Hahaha I know ... of course I over ordered a lot of the fittings, but came up short on some others. They'll get swapped out its bothering me also! :wildone:

I'm going to use Vectra L1 and M1s for now, but down the road I'd like to get a couple of RD3 pumps once I can save some more cash.

Not much of an update but I'm almost set on the return plumbing design. I may have to tweak it while on the job though.

Soooo got really sidetracked with life. I finally got the aquascape done. I just need to plumb the returns and I should be good to go.

The rock is Pukani and I used Aquamaxx Reef Welder to attach the rocks together. A chizzle and hammer bang bang and here you have it. The Reef Welder works awesome! Highly recommended.
