hi Guys,

Please help!

I have brown algae taking over my tank, what should I do to get rid of this? Look at the attached pictures. it first started on the sand and now i see it on the rocks as well. I'm worried that if i don't do anything soon the tank is going to look horrible.

salinity 0.23
ammonia 0
nitrite 0
nitrate 0
phosphate 0.25
ph 8.1

It's normal. Diatoms are part of the nitrogen cycle process. Try not to overfeed & be patient [emoji846]

Agreed. New tank syndrome. Let it do its thing. Mine is about the same age as yours and mines slowly going away. It's ugly, but completely natural!

Hi all, you could try adding rowaphos in a bag in your sump or get a phosphate reactor and run the rowaphos in that. I did what i said and there all gone.

Goodluck

Guys,

my only fish (a chromis) just die... :( he was just fine until today, so i m thinking that since i just started dosing esv bionic supplement yesterday at night maybe i did something wrong.

i dosed 5ml of component no. 2 (calcium) first and 5 ml of component no. 1 (alkalinity) by mistake... (my bad) does the order matter? i waited about 10 minutes before dosing component no.1

maybe i need to start dosing in the morning instead? Also i don't have an auto doser yet so i'm just pouring the supplement by hand slowly.

Nitrate 10
Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Phospate 0.25
Ph 8.0
Salinity 0.23

Hi, best to dose when you get back from work so you can monitor what is happening. I have never dosed 2 part but i can't see how it could of caused the death of a fish. Are you testing alkalinity and calcium to see if you really needed to dose?

I didn't see you mention it, but do you have a CUC? If not, I would introduce a small CUC. Did you quarantine the Chromis?

To be honest i have no idea why your fish died. Very strange. My alkalinty was as low as 7.3 dkh and calcium as high as 450ppm and nothing died.

Maybe you can retest your alk and calcium to see if anything went wrong after dosing. Just a guess

More than likely the fish was sick. Chromis are known for coming in with different parasites and illness, especially Uronema.
