Is it possible to seed a new tank with dry flakes of pink/purple coralline algae (ie scrapped off dry glass/tank from a previous system)? I know that other forms of algae can begin growing again after being dry for well over a year.

Sure.. But it would be a waste of time IMO.. Coralline will come in on frags,etc... (if you want it)..
I hate coralline and never want it in any tank.. Urchins take care of that for me..

yeah I used to always want coralline till it grows all over the sides of the glass on your tank and its a pain to get off...
