alright guys we have been having problems with our 100gallon reef. We decided to test for alkalinity salinity and ph..we are dosing lime to keep our calcium and ph..our calcium read 490 yesterday and ph was 8.1 but the alkalinity was around 17 dkh.... also our salinty keeps deopping from 1.025 to 1.022 in a week and a half...we are using fritz salt as well..

Any help is greatly appreciated we would like to figure out what to do

when alk and cal are being wonky i usually check magnesium. if your mg is out of wack it can wreak havoc with cal/alk.

in regards to your salinity dropping, are you getting a large amount of salt creep, or is your ATO miscalibrated (if you're using an ATO)?

No salt creep and we were using the liter meter but recently switch to the jbj ato

check MG, but also, both those numbers are obviously really high, and affected by the lime. Not sure dosing lime is the best way to go, look into two part dosing.

For as the salinity drop, how is your skimmer set? Are you wet or dry skimming. I have notice with wet skimming you have to be careful with the salinity, as the skimmer is taking out a lot and the ato is filling it back up with RO/DI water.

Are you dosing to maintain ph?

Mag will stabilize your pH and Alk.
