So my Aqueon Pro's took a crap in my tank. Those have pretty much been the only heaters I've used the past 5 years. I have a third spare that is currently doing the job but it is too small to rely on long term. I like the Aqueon Pro's but they are on back order everywhere until March. Can't wait that long. I need a recommendation of another reliable heater brand. I hate to go with a glass heater but at this point I don't really have a choice. Need to get a couple new heaters ASAP.

Eheim jager. It's glass, but just as good as the Aqueon Pro.

I see Eheim Jagers recommended pretty frequently. I use Blueline titanium elements controlled by my Apex.

Finnex Titanium. I am actively using 5 of them for a year now.

Thanks all. Just ordered two 250 watt Eheim Jager's. Not big on the idea of glass heaters, but as long as they work they should be fine. Just have to be extra careful when working in the sump. Maybe I will make a little egg crate protector to go over the top of them.

Heaters fail, usually in the thermostat, usually "on". If you want to sleep well run them off of a controller.

Yeah, the lights on the Aqeons were stuck on the green light. Which is supposed to mean tank is heated up to set temp. But my tank got down to 68* and I had both heaters cranked up all the way and the green lights stayed on the entire time and my tank still only maxed out at 70*. Put my spare in and the red light stayed on for two days. Tank is at 76* now. Fish seem more active.

I thought one was on the fritz for a while but didn't realize the other one was as well. Definitely going to pay closer attention to my heaters from now on. Might be a thing I replace every couple years, just because. Can always use old heaters for QT or heating up stored water.

Jagers all the way and having a controller is a must. If not, you're asking for trouble.

Finnex titanium heater with a controller (heater only or aquarium controller). That is the best.

I would recommend the APEX. Like a Jr if your system is small and don't have a lot of needs yet.

Heater only controllers: Finnex, JBJ, a lot of folks have been using the Inkbird also.
