I was advised not to get a starry Or lawnmower blennys because I have a clam and they may nip at the mantel.

Truth or old reefer tales?

Had a small clam for a short while and blenny didn't bother it. I can't imagein why he would, being a herbivore. Should be the same with starry.

i believe my lawnmower has nibbled from time to time. occasionally i will see what look like his lip marks on the mantle, but that's very seldom, and if it actually is him nipping it's never been enough to bother either of my clams.

zooxanthellae from clams are desirable for any herbivore if hungry.

I hadn't thought of that, but that makes a lot of sense. Mine never did give me issues though.

Never had issues with my Lawnmower and Maxima for the past 20 months or so.

Yep. I have seen a tang go at a clam at my LFS, believe it or not. They had to take the Tang out.

I had to remove my blenny after it started taking bites out of my Maxima. It took out perfect bite shaped chunks )
