Looks like it the beginning of the hole on the head syndrome. If it will eat NLS pellets it will reverse the disease. This is my experience in the past, I have similar problem before. The white patch will get bigger and bigger if not being take care of. Good luck!

Can you please tell me what NLS is?

NLS is a brand of food. New Life Spectrum, for what it's worth that is most likely not HLLE or hole in head. My guess at this point would be either fungal or bacterial infection.

This picture seems better. She's camera shy.

When I can get a good look at it it appears just as a flat white spot.

If the face are started to peel, You know it's HLLE. You have nothing to loss by feeding it a quality food anyway. Lots of illness come from malnutrition.
