I know... at the end of the day it's just a giant salt water tank full of sharks that are very well fed....
but man it is still a rush to have massive sand tiger sharks swim over your head!!!

I did the same in the Georgia Aquarium. 35 foot whale sharks and manta rays. Very cool.

What did you have to pay to get in the tank?

Cool! I also did a similar dive in Epcot - Orlando. They had fewer sharks but a large tank

$240... long wait list! I think they only take 2 divers a week. They let me take these two memories of the dive ;)

It was around $300 at the GA Aquarium. You spend the whole day there, take some classes, Fi a detailed dive plan, and get a behind the scenes tour. Plus we shelled out another $75 or so to spend about 15 extra minutes in the tank to get up close with the whale sharks, and get a PADI specialty cert in whale shark conservation. (Also had to take an extra class and extra test.) No souvenirs beyond a T-shirt, but definitely a first class day. They take any non-diving friends/family and escort them up front in the viewing area, so you can clown around and the can take selfies. Plus you get a DVD of the dive.

Sweet... I'll have to remember this next time I am around Georgia... it's been a few years but I am sure I'll be back. Thanks for the tip!

If you do it, you can get the PADI cert for either whale sharks or mantas. But the mantas come play with you during the regular dive (they love the bubbles!), but the whale sharks tend to stay near the surface. So if you buy that extra piece, I recommend the whale sharks.

Camden Aquarium has a few behind the scenes tours

I feed the sea turtles in their big tank.

I have to get to the GA aquarium - need to see a whale shark.

Camden has some nice hammer heads

GA Aquarium used to have a massive hammerhead and A bunch of small cownose rays. One time I went and asked where the hammerhead was, and the docent asked if I saw any of those rays. I said no, and he said, yeah, well the only predation we've ever had in the tank was that shark eating those rays, so he's gone now...
