I have a live stock trough that I'd like to use with one of my set ups but I noticed that the release valve in the bottom appears to be brass. I know brass (specifically the copper in brass) is not supposed to be healthy for a tank (and I'm sure the zinc isn't great either), so I was wondering what other people do about this when they use them as sumps? Is there a way for me to cap it off so it can't come into contact with he water? Or do I need to remove it and if so where can I get a plug to seal the hole?
Thanks so much.

You should be able to swap it out with pvc.

Is there a standard sized one for the stock tanks? If so where can I get them? The local big box home improvement? Or the farm supply store?
Thanks

Take it off and take it with you. You should be able to match it up to a plastic one.

Yes, but *where* do you find the plastic ones? The big box stores? Or the farm supply stores? Or a plumbing store?

Any of those places with a decent plumbing section should have what you need.

I would bet its a standard valve. Home Depot or lowes will probably have one.
