Hello all,

I am trying to set up a new reef tank. Currently looking at making a 48x30x14 and using a 75g tank I have as my sump; so far.

I am looking into protein skimmers and there's so many ones that seem similar.

I am currently looking at 2 skimmers, both from reef octopus. The classic 150 int and the 150 ext. Both have the same pump, ratings and specs but one is recirculating and costs 200$ more.

Is 200$ too much for recirculation and will that make it better just because it's recirculating? Does anyone have these?

Really that is up for debate. Some will tell u recirc does make a begging difference and so will say they don't see a difference.
I personally wouldn't pay the extra for a recirculating skimmer. I owned an old school euro reef with a recirc mod on it and was happy with it until I bought and itech200 and ran both skimmers side by side. The itech blow the euro reef out of the water by far and the itech was rated for 300 gallons less.
